Have you ever seen archery? The center of the target is the shooter's target. Therefore, we should choose a good bow and straight arrow, save our body energy, accumulate strength, stand in a good posture, and walk to the target according to the method of archery. Bows must be round, eyes must be focused, arrows must be decisive, and they must hit the center of the target. Without a bull's-eye, there will be no single-minded interest. Even if you have a good bow and arrow and great strength, how can you display it at a loss? As for those who play games with relaxed bows and shoot arrows at will, they have no fixed goals and are unlikely to hit them. Such a gentleman can't do it. Such a gentleman won't make friends with him because he has no goal. People who are good at doing research, if they understand this truth, can they be alert quietly? The ideal of a scholar is to be a saint, just as an archer pursues to hit the bull's-eye. People who don't study according to the standards of sages are just like those who miss the bull's-eye. Without a fixed ambition, it is like walking in the ocean. Without a fixed place to go, few people will eventually become mediocre! This is the first thing a determined person should do. Once you have a direction, you will pursue ways to achieve your goals. Only ambitious people can do it. So learning from teachers, making friends, reading books and learning things are all ways to achieve the goal. Don't neglect your ideals when you are fine at ordinary times; When dealing with people and things, don't be confused about your ideals; Don't lose your ambition when you are at ease; When you encounter difficulties and troubles, your ambition will not compromise. You must achieve the goal you are pursuing. This requires setting an ambition and never changing it. So if you set your ambition, even if you are a saint, it can be achieved. The ancients said, "Where there is a will, there is a way." He added, "Make up your mind and concentrate." That's what it means. If you don't make up your mind, you won't succeed in even small things, let alone learn such a big thing. Once upon a time, Confucius began to learn as a genius, and everyone had to make up his mind, not to mention us ignorant people. It is a fact that we must take our determination as the top priority. Today, Mr. Huang, a guest of four in Kaifengfu, is good at educating children, gentle but limited, strict but not alienated. Once I asked his son Huang Ji to learn from me. Huang Ji asked me to give him an inscription in his study to encourage him, so I wrote him the word "Shangzhi" and gave it to him. One day, he went back to his hometown temporarily and came to me to ask about the church. I wrote what I wanted to say, and I didn't think Huang Ji's behavior was complicated. Huang Ji is still in the determination stage!
