Guangning County is located in the central and western part of Zhaoqing City, in the middle reaches of the Suijiang River, a tributary of the Beijiang River. It borders Sihui City and Qingxin District of Qingyuan City to the east, and Gaoyao District and Deqing District to the south. It borders the county, Huaiji County to the west, and Yangshan County of Qingyuan City to the north.
