Zengcheng District is a district under the jurisdiction of Guangzhou City. It is located in the central-eastern part of Guangdong Province and the eastern part of Guangzhou City. It faces Dongguan across the river to the south, Huizhou to the east, Conghua to the north, and Guangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone and Zhongxin Knowledge to the west. city.
Zengcheng belongs to Dongjiang District. It was included in Central Guangdong District in 1954 and changed to Huiyang District in 1956. In 1958, it merged with Longmen County and was still called Zengcheng County. It belonged to Guangzhou City and Foshan Prefecture successively. In 1961, it was separated from Longmen and belonged to Huiyang District (later renamed Huiyang area). In 1975, it was placed under the jurisdiction of Guangzhou City.
On December 8, 1993, with the approval of the State Council, Zengcheng County was abolished and Zengcheng City was established, which was managed by Guangzhou City.
On February 12, 2014, the State Council agreed to cancel the county-level Zengcheng City and establish Zengcheng District in Guangzhou City. The original administrative area of ??Zengcheng City will be the administrative area of ??Zengcheng District. The Zengcheng District People’s Government will be stationed in Licheng Street No. 1 Huimin Road.
