Since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Chinese male table tennis players have been ranked among the top ten in terms of strength and contribution, which can be summarized as follows.
It was in 1959 that Rong Guotuan won the men's singles championship at the Dortmund World Table Tennis Championships. This was China's first table tennis world champion and the first sports world champion in New China. In 1961, Rong Guotuan helped the Chinese men's table tennis team win the men's championship at the Beijing World Table Tennis Championships. After becoming the coach of the women's table tennis team in 1964, he led the team to win the women's team championship in the 28th World Table Tennis Championships.
In Zhuang Zedong, he won the men's singles championship at the 26th, 27th and 28th World Table Tennis Championships. The record of three singles championships at the World Table Tennis Championships is still unrivaled in our country. Zhuang Zedong made friends with American players during the 31st World Table Tennis Championships, which opened the history of friendly relations between China and the United States. He was praised by Premier Zhou as "a small silver ball pushing the earth."
He is a member of the men's team that won the 26th World Table Tennis Championships. He also partnered with Wang Zhiliang at the 27th World Table Tennis Championships, helping Guo Ping win the men's doubles championship for the first time. At the 31st World Table Tennis Championships, he partnered with Emily Lin and won the mixed doubles championship for Guo Ping for the first time. After retiring, Zhang served as the head coach of the national women's table tennis team from 1972 to 1995, training world champions such as Deng Yaping and Jiao Zhimin. In 1996, he was awarded the "World's Highest Coach Honor Award" by the International Table Tennis Federation, becoming the first person in the world to receive this honor.
He is the champion of Li Furong’s 26th, 27th, 28th and 31st World Table Tennis Championships. He participated in four World Table Tennis Championships and served for 10 years. Li Furong is a participant and builder of the "golden third generation" of Chinese table tennis. After he became a sports leader, Lu, Cai Zhenhua, Shi Zhihao, etc. were all influenced by him, and they all became the main builders and guides of Chinese table tennis.
Xu Yinsheng participated in four World Table Tennis Championships and won third place in the men's singles in the 1961 World Table Tennis Championships. At the same time, he is also the main champion of the men's team. Xu Yinsheng became the chairman of the Chinese Table Tennis Association in 1979 and the chairman of the International Table Tennis Federation from 1995 to 1999. During his tenure as ITTF president, Xu Yinsheng made a huge contribution to the entry of table tennis into the Olympic Games, and also played an absolute role in the promotion of 40mm table tennis.
Cai Zhenhua won numerous awards when he was a member of the 1979 World Table Tennis Championships, the men's doubles champion and men's team champion of the 36th World Table Tennis Championships in 1981, and the men's team champion of the 37th World Table Tennis Championships in 1983. After Cai Zhenhua returned to China to coach in 1989, he created the modern era of Chinese table tennis. Wang Tao, Liu, and Kong were all world champions during Cai Zhenhua's coaching period. Liu was the first to achieve a men's Grand Slam, followed closely by Kong.
Liu is the first Grand Slam champion for a Chinese male table tennis player. After retiring, he served as the national table tennis coach. Under Liu's leadership, Chinese table tennis has made great progress and finally achieved its goal of world domination. When Liu coached the national table tennis team, the "two kings and one horse" teamed up to challenge European, Japanese and Korean players. Later, Zhang Jike and Ma Long grew up again and both achieved Grand Slam achievements.
Kong Huiling is the second Grand Slam winner for Chinese men's table tennis players. Needless to say, her strength is great. After retiring, Kong joined the national team to coach. In the 2016 London Olympics, the Chinese women's table tennis team once again achieved the gold medal task, and Ding Ning achieved a Grand Slam.
Is Shi Zhihao’s 36th World Table Tennis Championships men’s team champion and a top eight men’s singles player. Shi Zhihao’s coaching performance is very high. Wang Nan, Li Ju, Zhang Yining, Li, Ding Ning and Liu were all his disciples.
