4. Macheng Guifeng Mountain
Located 30 kilometers east of Macheng County, the main peak is Mazhuang, with an altitude of 1,224 meters. It is beautiful, majestic and quite interesting. It is a famous scenic spot in eastern Hubei.
The mountainous terrain is dangerous and has been an important military location since ancient times. According to legend, Wu and Chu fought here in the late Spring and Autumn Period. Cao Cao trained troops here in the late Eastern Han Dynasty and inscribed a couplet for the "Nengren Temple" on the top of the mountain. In the early Southern Song Dynasty, Niu Zhen once camped here, and his tomb is near the foot of the mountain. When Dong Biwu visited here in 1962, he praised it as the "Second Lushan Mountain" and wrote a poem in his own handwriting: "It used to be a guerrilla area, but now it is a tea-producing area. Guifeng has been famous for a long time, and Guling's virtues are not alone. The brilliant red flowers are left, The mountain is covered with velvet and green grass. There are hidden treasures in this mountain. Don’t hesitate to move forward.”
