1. Gu Kaizhi

Gu Kaizhi, born in Wuxi, Jinling, is of Han nationality. Outstanding painter, calligrapher, painting theorist and poet. Gu Kaizhi is well-read, good at poetry and calligraphy, and especially good at painting. Gu Kaizhi has also made outstanding achievements in painting theory. Gu Kaizhi put forward the theory of vivid expression, observing the spirit with form, and thinking about the wonderful, and advocated that painting should show the mental state and personality characteristics of characters, attach importance to the experience and observation of objects, grasp the inner essence of objects by thinking about the wonderful, and write the spirit with form on the basis of the similar shape. Gu Kaizhi's painting and his theory laid the foundation for the development of traditional painting in China.

2. Mi Fei

Mi Fei, whose first name was Kun, was later changed to Kun, and his own name was Mi or Qian. He was a native of Xiangyang, Hubei Province, when he was named Haiyue Waishi, and he was also named a descendant of Xiong and a descendant of Huo Zheng. Calligrapher, painter and painting theorist in the Northern Song Dynasty, together with Cai Xiang, Su Shi and Huang Tingjian, were called "Song Sijia".

Mi Fei began to learn calligraphy from the Tang Dynasty. It was only after Mi Fei deeply studied the calligraphy of the Tang Dynasty that he reflected on the calligraphy of the Tang Dynasty and found that Yan Zhenqing, Liu Gongquan, Chu Suiliang and other Tang people's calligraphy was too constrained by the laws of regular script, and the "interesting" aesthetic taste of calligraphy could not be reflected, so he began to have a sense of criticizing the Tang Dynasty.

3. Zhao Mengfu

Zhao Mengfu, born in Zi Ang, Han nationality, was born in Songxue Road, also known as Crystal Palace Road flyover and Gulbo, and worked in Meng Fu in middle age. Zhejiang Wuxing people. Famous calligrapher, painter and poet from the end of Southern Song Dynasty to the beginning of Yuan Dynasty, grandson of Zhao Kuangyin XI of Song Taizu and descendant of Zhao Defang, king of Qin.

Zhao Mengfu made many friends and learned from Gao Kegong, Qian Xuan, Wang Zhi, Li Li and Guo Youzhi. Chen Lin, Tang Di, Zhu Derun, Ke Jiusi, Huang Gongwang, Wang Meng, etc. He specializes in seal cutting and is famous for his "round Zhu Wen".

4. Zhao Ji

Zhao Ji, the owner of Xuanhe, was the eighth emperor of the Song Dynasty, a calligrapher and painter. The eleventh son of Song Shenzong and the younger brother of Song Zhezong. Under the decadent rule of Song Huizong Group, internal peasant uprisings surged, Liangshan Uprising and Fang La Uprising broke out successively, and the Northern Song Dynasty was in danger. But Song Huizong's artistic attainments are very high.

Song Huizong Zhao Ji's love for painting is very sincere. He used imperial power to promote painting, which made the painting art in Song Dynasty develop unprecedentedly. He also created his own calligraphy font, which was called "thin gold body" by later generations. He loved painting flowers and birds and formed his own "courtyard body". He was a rare and accomplished artistic emperor in ancient times.

5. Xu Wei

Xu Wei was a famous writer, painter, dramatist and strategist in Ming Dynasty. Xu Wei is versatile, unique in poetry, drama, calligraphy and painting, and is also known as "three gifted scholars in Ming Dynasty" with Jie Jin and Yang Shen.

He is the founder of "splash-ink freehand brushwork school" and the originator of "Ivy School" in China. His paintings can absorb the essence of predecessors and be thoroughly remoulded, without seeking to look like a god. Mountains and rivers, figures, flowers and birds, and bamboo stones do everything, with flowers as the most outstanding one, creating a generation of painting styles and having a great influence on later painting circles.
