History of the Administrative District

Yingjiang District was founded in April 1949. It was then called Songyang District of Anqing City. It was renamed Chengdong District in 1952 and Dongshi in 1955. District, was renamed Yingjiang District in 1960. In 1968, Yingjiang District was renamed Dongshi District and the Dongshi District Revolutionary Committee was established.
