Guangxi-Liuzhou-According to archaeological excavations, Liujiang people lived here in the late Paleolithic period. Liu Zongyuan, an outstanding thinker, politician and poet in the Tang Dynasty, was demoted as a Sima in Yongzhou and later as a secretariat in Liuzhou because of his failure to participate in the Wang Reform. Liu Zongyuan deeply felt that he was getting farther and farther away from Beijing, and the hope of returning to Beijing was getting more and more slim. After touching the comfort and suffering of Liuzhou, he decided to build water conservancy, plant oranges and trees, set up schools, teach in person and spread culture. He has done a lot of good for the people of Liuzhou and won their love.

As a cultural celebrity, Liu Zongyuan is not only well-read and knowledgeable, but also loves making friends and traveling. After arriving in Liuzhou, I was far away from the capital and had less contact with my relatives and friends, but my contact with local residents did not decrease. He paid attention to understanding the people's sufferings and aspirations, and wrote political articles with distinct views and popular poems, which were well received by the people. Exiled to the remote Liuzhou, he can no longer travel to the famous mountains and rivers in the Central Plains and other places, but can only go to Tianye Mountain Villa and Qifeng Spiritual Practice near Liuzhou to increase his experience and relieve his depression and anger. Guiling, more than 30 kilometers away from Liuzhou, is Liu Zongyuan's favorite place.

The red azaleas all over the mountain exude fragrance, which makes people feel relaxed and happy. Climbing to the top of Guiling Mountain, you can have a panoramic view of Liuzhou. The winding crossing of the river (Liujiang) seems to be a nine-turn ileum, which makes people feel a complicated feeling of missing their loved ones and lingering. The extraordinary changes in Liuzhou aroused Liu Zongyuan's creative passion in literature. Frightening wind disorderly paste lotus water, dense oblique invasion of Ficus pumila wall. " This poem stands out.

In the poem "Farewell to My Brother Zong Yi", he borrowed the terrible atmosphere of dark clouds rolling in Guilin before the rainstorm, and the dark clouds pressed the city to urge it, which metaphorically represented his harsh living environment. The poem says: "The soul is scattered and the tears cross the river. The treacherous party, because the party did not leave the capital, lived more than 6 thousand miles away; I left Baiyue desolate, gaunt and poor for the rest of my life. Guiling malaria forest, black clouds hanging white; Welcome to the beautiful future of Dongting with spring scenery and water and sky. If you want to know the dream of acacia after that, you will grow up in Jingmen. "

What is the peak of this "Guilin" that deserves Liu Zongyuan's heavy ink rendering? This Guilin is now called "Gu Ting". Why did "Guiling Mountain" become "Gu Ting Mountain"? It turns out that Gu Ting Mountain is a peak in the east of Liuzhou, with an altitude of 556 meters, more than 30 miles away from downtown Liuzhou. For example, hiking and observing people's feelings can't be done without three or four days. To this end, Liu Zongyuan built several pavilions on the mountain for rest, reading and shelter from the rain. Since then, these pavilions have been used by local people. With the passage of time, the title of "Guiling Mountain" was gradually replaced by "Gu Tingshan" and has continued to this day.
