When the author Daniel gives lectures, he often makes the audience volunteer to form a "temporary choir" and let them directly experience the integration process by singing.
The author will have three requirements for the "temporary choir":
1. Sing consistent tones.
At the beginning, people may not sing accurately, and they may sing high or low, but basically after singing once, they can maintain the consistency of pitch.
2. Cover your ears and sing your own songs.
at first, everyone will be excited, but soon they will be agitated and confused, and the audience will laugh. Because everyone sings their own songs without any connection.
3. Sing a song that is familiar to each other.
At this time, everyone can automatically cooperate with others according to their own tone and finish singing a song in harmony. But at best, it can only be regarded as a "makeshift choir"
When we listen to the real choir, we feel completely different.
Although everyone in the choir has a unique voice, when the unique voices of each other are coordinated (integrated), the wonderful melody will make us feel vitality and harmony. The balance between differentiation and connection is the essence of integration.
In every speech, the author asks the audience to do integration exercises in order to let them know the process and essence of integration.
in exercise 1, although everyone can maintain the consistency of their voices in chorus, they lack differences (personality). Without differentiation, the integration will be blocked, and it will become rigid and rigid. < P > Exercise 2, although everyone maintains an independent personality in chorus, they are confused because of lack of connection with each other.
in exercise 3, when singing in chorus, everyone keeps the connection and moves towards stability and harmony on the premise of maintaining their independent personality.
First, seeking integration
For an easy-to-understand analogy, when the meridians of the body are blocked, we will feel numb, painful or uncomfortable. Similarly, when the connection between the brain and the mind is not smooth, the mind will feel uncomfortable because of rigidity or confusion.
integration can help us sort out obstacles and get connected by reconciling and unblocking obstacles. Integration makes our hearts more open, stable and harmonious, and enters a happy state.
If we don't integrate, the areas that affect our mental state will appear rigid or disorganized, just like the scenes in chorus exercises 1 and 2.
integration is the connection between different components in the system. Integration points out the direct path to happiness and health, and it is the principle behind disease-free and healthy happiness.
through integration, we can not only avoid boring life and boring rigidity, but also avoid extreme chaos.
1. Integration and Emotion
Emotion is the basic element in a person's life. Emotion connects the body and the brain, and connects people with others.
Emotion is more like a change in our integrated state. Integration may be the principle behind all levels of health we experience.
2. Healthy psychology: Complexity and self-organization
Complex systems are open and stable, and also self-organized.
human is a complex system. Although our personalities are randomly distributed, at the same time, we will also learn a lot from books we have read, people we have met and past experiences. Sometimes openness will make us confused, but through integration, we can make the self-organization process of complex systems smoother.
self-organizational process is a way for a system to shape its own presentation, which is formed by the mathematical operation of a complex system. There are no programmers, no programs, and no external forces that control the development of the system. In the interaction of the components that make up the system, the process of self-organization occurs.
3. Integrated river: rigid or chaotic VS harmonious and flexible
The higher the complexity of the system, the better the stability and flexibility. Integration will constantly make our system more complex, make us more stable and flexible, and it is not easy to get into chaos due to external influences.
the integrated system has the following five characteristics: abbreviated as FACES,
F(flexible)= flexible, A(adaptive)= adaptive, C(coherent)= consistent, E(energized)= dynamic, and S(stable)= stable.
if you imagine the flow of FACES as a river, the mainstream of the river is the ever-changing flow of integration and harmony. One boundary of the flow of integration and harmony is chaos, and the other boundary is rigidity. This is the integration of the two sides of the river.
when we are wandering in the center of the integration and harmony, we can follow the natural flow of the river, not affected by the external environment, live in the present, and swim between chaos and rigidity, and there is a soldier to cover up the freedom and freedom. (Live in the present, not afraid of the future)
If you deviate from the center of the river of integration, the two sides of the river will make life rigid (stuck in it) or chaotic (unpredictable and out of control).
2. Eight fields of integration
Eight fields of integration are the key to personal transformation and happiness. These eight fields are not necessarily developed in a linear way, and may appear at the same time.
eight areas are perception, left and right brain, perception, memory, childhood, self, interpersonal relationship and uncertainty.
awareness is the foundation of all integration. Psychology is a regulating mechanism, which regulates energy flow and information flow. We can lead the energy flow and information flow in the brain and interpersonal relationships to an integrated state through conscious concentration.
Third, the "sense of mind" and integration
Integration can keep the "sense of mind" in normal function.
The sense of mind can timely and accurately feel the pulse of psychology, find out the obstacle areas (areas with insufficient integration or lack of integration), arrange and reconcile them, and adjust the energy flow and information flow through psychology to achieve the state of integration.
next, I will elaborate on eight areas of integration and specific practical methods in eight articles.
