Why is Nanjing called Shicheng?
Because Nanjing was Jinling City in Chu Weiwang in ancient times, Sun Quan built the city on the stone hill where Jinling City was located, so it was called Stone City.

Stone Town is located in Gulou District, Nanjing. This is a famous relic of the Six Dynasties. The site is located in Liangshan, now in the Qing Dynasty, and is known as "the first military fortress in Soochow". It was founded in Chu Weiwang for seven years (333 years) and Jian 'an for sixteen years in the Eastern Han Dynasty (2 1 1 year). Sun Quan of Wu moved to Moling (now Nanjing) and built a city in the original site of Stone Mountain Jinling City, named Stone City.

Stone Town is called Stone Town. Broadly speaking, it is another name for Nanjing today. In a narrow sense, it refers to Shishan Town in the west of the old city of Nanjing.
