Brief introduction of Kashgar Special Economic Zone
Kashgar is located in the west of China, with geographical coordinates of 73 20 ′-79 57 ′ east longitude and 35 20 ′-40 ′ north latitude18 ′. It is bordered by Taklimakan Desert in the east, Karakorum Mountain and Ali region in Tibet in the south, Pamir Plateau in the west, Keping County and awat in Aksu region in the northeast, Atushi County, Wuqia County and Akto County in Kizilsu Kirgiz Autonomous Prefecture in the northwest, and Pishan County in Hotan region in the southeast. Kashgar is the westernmost city in China. The total area is 6.5438+0.62 million square kilometers, of which the oasis area is 27.4 million square kilometers. The whole region governs 1 city, 1 1 county, with a total population of 3.5 million, of which 90% are Uighurs, 8% are Han, and 2% are other ethnic minorities. It is a minority community with Uighurs as the main body. Kashgar has a long history, with a recorded history of more than 2000 years. In 60 BC, the Han Dynasty established the Western Regions Capital Protection House in Xinjiang, and Kashgar, as a part of the Western Regions, was formally incorporated into the territory of the motherland. In the Tang Dynasty, it was also one of the famous "Four Towns in Anxi"-Shule town. Before the opening of the sea route in the15th century, Kashgar, as the transportation hub of the ancient "Silk Road", was always an international commercial port where Chinese and foreign businessmen gathered and a gathering place for cultural exchanges between the East and the West. Kashgar is the only national historical and cultural city in Xinjiang, which embodies the characteristics of Uygur folk customs, culture, art and architectural style. It is the most typical and representative city in Xinjiang.
