Historical evolution of Nanchang Uprising Memorial Tower on August 1st.
1957, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), the Jiangxi provincial government formally established the memorial tower of the August 1st Uprising to commemorate the August 1st Nanchang Uprising. The location of the memorial tower was originally set in Laofushan. However, it was not until 1977 that the August 1st Nanchang Uprising Memorial Tower project, which had been suspended for 20 years, was officially started in People's Square (the predecessor of August 1st Square). 65438-0955, Jiangxi Province collected the design scheme of "August 1st Uprising Memorial Tower" in China. Wozuquan, a student of architecture in Tsinghua University, was deeply touched and strongly longed for the opportunity to participate in the design of Nanchang's "August 1st Uprising Memorial Tower". 1957, a grand foundation laying ceremony was held in Laofushan Square to commemorate the August 1st Uprising. Due to the natural disasters in China for three years, the memorial tower was not built.

1976, Jiangxi Province once again put the construction of Nanchang Uprising Memorial Tower on the agenda, and collected design schemes in Jiangxi Province. The "tower and flag gun" scheme designed by Wo Zuquan and several other staff working in Jiangxi Architectural Design Institute has been widely recognized. Wo Zuquan, together with five other people, was transferred to the "August 1st Nanchang Uprising Memorial Tower Construction Headquarters" and stationed in the former site of Zhu De Military Officers Education Corps, and began the final design and integration of the memorial tower. At that time, the address of the tower was still in Laofushan. Later, many experts and citizens suggested that the site selection was inappropriate, because at traffic intersections, the memorial tower would attract the attention of drivers and pedestrians and affect traffic. Therefore, the address was changed to Bayi Square, that is, the central axis of Jiangxi Provincial Museum in the south and the podium building in the north. In August, kloc-0/977 officially broke ground.

1979 65438+1October 8th, the Nanchang Uprising Memorial Tower of Bayi, with a total height of 45.5m, finally stood solemnly in People's Square and became a magnificent landmark building of Hero City.
