Yangshao Village Cultural Site is located in Yangshao Village, 9 kilometers north of Mianchi County, Sanmenxia City. 192 1 with the approval of the government of China, Swedish geologist An Tesheng and China archaeologist Yuan Fuli jointly conducted the first excavation. According to the unearthed cultural relics, it is confirmed as the ancient cultural remains of China. According to archaeological practice, the first place to be discovered was named as a cultural type, hence the name "Yangshao Culture". Yangshao Village Cultural Site is located on the gentle slope platform in the south of Yangshao Village, surrounded by Shaoshan Mountain in the north, water in the east, west and south, 900 meters long from northeast to southwest, 300 meters wide from northwest to southeast, with a total area of about 300,000 square meters, and the accumulated thickness of cultural soil layer is 2-4 meters. The main unearthed artifacts are stone tools, bone tools, pottery and mussels. Stone tools used for farming include axes, shovels, chisels and hoes. Stone arrows, projectiles, stone cakes, etc. It is used for hunting; Connecting pendant, spinning wheel, bone needle, bone cone, etc. Used in textiles. At that time, people's daily utensils were pottery, including pots, cans, bowls, pots, bowls, cups, urns and altars. What is particularly striking is the exquisite decorative patterns on pottery, including wide-band patterns, net patterns, petal patterns, fish patterns, chord patterns, geometric patterns and so on. Exquisite painted pottery is a major feature of Yangshao culture.

Yangshao culture is dominated by farming and belongs to the social stage of transition from matriarchal clan to paternal clan. It centers on the middle reaches of the Yellow River, reaches Hubei in the south and Inner Mongolia in the north, and is a very powerful ancient culture in the Yellow River basin. The discovery of Yangshao culture declared the complete bankruptcy of the argument that there was no Stone Age culture in China, so Yangshao Village cultural site was praised as a "cultural holy land" by Chinese and foreign archaeologists.

On March 4th, 196 1 Yangshao village cultural site was announced by the State Council as a national key cultural relics protection unit.
