The stomatological hospital affiliated to Tongji University was formerly the outpatient department of Ganquan Hospital of Shanghai Railway Medical College. The service was officially opened on 1987 and 12, earlier than Ganquan Hospital. At that time, there were only more than 40 employees, and the number of outpatients per day exceeded 70. 1May, 1994, due to the merger of Shanghai Railway Institute and Shanghai Railway Medical College into Shanghai Railway University, the outpatient department of Ganquan Hospital was upgraded to the stomatological hospital of Shanghai Railway University, with an approved staffing of 150, nearly 100 employees and more than 20 daily outpatient visits 120. In May 2000, Shanghai Railway University and Tongji University merged into the new Tongji University, so the Stomatological Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Railway University was renamed Tongji University Stomatological Hospital. The Ministry of Education approved the staffing 150, and the daily outpatient volume was more than 200.

After nearly 20 years' efforts, the stomatological hospital has developed from a simple dental clinic to an inpatient department, an outpatient department, an emergency department and a stomatological research institute. Several generations have worked hard for this, and we want to thank those predecessors who have worked hard for the development of stomatology in our hospital.
