According to historical records, in May of the seventh year of Jiayou, Bao Zheng suddenly fell ill while serving in the Privy Council. A few days later, he died of illness at the age of 64. Posthumous title does history Xiao Su.
Bao Zheng is honest and clean, the legislature is resolute, independent and powerful, impartial, wise in decision-making, and dares to redress grievances for the people, hence the name "Bao Qingtian" and "Bao Gong". Later generations regarded him as a god, regarded him as the reincarnation of Kuixing, and was also called "Bao Qingtian" because of his black face image.
Bao Zheng's main achievements
Bao Zheng was especially praised for its justice and integrity in law enforcement. In Tianchang County, Bao Zheng met a difficult case. One day, a farmer came to the county government and accused the gangster of cutting off the tongue of his cow, demanding to catch the criminal. It was unprofitable to cut off the ox tongue. Bao Zheng decided that it must be revenge of his enemy, so he ordered the farmer to kill the cow and sell the meat to attract criminals.
In the Song Dynasty, it was illegal to slaughter cattle. As Bao Zheng expected, the person who cut the cow's tongue saw the owner kill the cow and wanted to aggravate his crime. Sure enough, he went to the county government to report that he was trapped and the mystery was solved.
