Wuqi, located in the middle of Wuqi County, is the political, economic, transportation and cultural center of the county. It is 25 kilometers wide from east to west and 30 kilometers long from north to south, with a total area of 383.7 square kilometers. Wuqi was handed down from generation to generation as the general of Wei State, and it was named after Wu Qi (about 400 years ago) stationed troops here. 1935, the Long March of the Central Red Army led by Mao Zedong arrived in northern Shaanxi, and Wuqi became the foothold of the Long March, making it famous at home and abroad.

In the 24th year of Jiaqing in Qing Dynasty (18 19), Jingbian County took the lead in establishing Wuqi. 1934, Liu Zhidan led the Red Army in northern Shaanxi to turn it into a Soviet area. 1935, 19 In June, Comrade Mao Zedong led the Central Red Army into Wuqi, the gate of the Soviet area, where he joined forces with the Red Army in northern Shaanxi, ending the world-famous 25,000-mile Long March. Mao Zedong deployed and commanded Wuqi to fight here, annihilated one cavalry regiment of the enemy who was chasing after him, and defeated three. Now it is the resident of Wuqi County People's Government. There are revolutionary memorial sites such as the former garrison site and the revolutionary martyrs memorial tower. Later called wuqi.

Wuqi governs 18 administrative villages, 105 villagers' groups and 6 neighborhood committees with a total population of 28,783. The territory is rich in mountain resources, stone, oil, machine bricks and other natural resources.
