The earliest human in China.
The earliest human in our country was Yuanmou.

It is about 6.5438+0.7 million years ago. Yuanmou man is the earliest hominid in China and even in Asia, earlier than Lantian people, Beijingers and cavemen.

Yuanmou Man

Yuanmou Man was named "Yuanmou Homo erectus" because he found his position on the mountain in the northwest of Shangnabang Village, Yuanmou County, Yunnan Province. His English name is homo erectus Yuan Mou, commonly known as "Yuanmou Man". The word "Yuanmou" comes from Dai language, which means "steed".

Yuanmou's incisors are characterized by a thick crown base and a slightly triangular end. The tubercle at the base of the lingual surface is convex and has developed into a shovel-shaped tooth socket. The concave surface in the middle of the lingual surface of the crown is rough, and the finger protrusion in the center is very long, and the finger protrusion is concentrated in the half surface near the outside.

Yuanmou's left incisor is 1 1.4 mm long, 8. 1 mm wide and1.2 mm high. The right incisor is 1 1.5mm long, 8.6mm wide and11mm high. Its sharp edge was worn before death.

The discovery of Yuanmou man

1965 Yuanmou man was found in Shangnabang Village, Yuanmou County, Yunnan Province during May Day. People first found two teeth, and later found stone tools and carbon chips in the same stratum, which proved that they were primitive humans who could make tools and use fire.

1976 According to the paleomagnetic method, Yuanmou lived for 170 65438+ million years, which is about1700,000 years, with a difference of no more than100,000 years. The two teeth found by Yuan, one is the upper left inner incisor and the other is the upper right inner incisor, both belong to adult individuals, and may be young men.

Discovery of Yuanmou Man Site

Yuanmou basin is located among the mountains along the Jinsha River, with a dry and hot climate. It is a famous "hot dam" in central Yunnan. 1At the beginning of May, 1965, geologists Qian Fang and Pu Qingyu and his party excavated a left central incisor and a right central incisor in the early Pleistocene strata of Shangnabang village in Dana wucun basin, Yuanmou, belonging to young men, with similar morphological characteristics and superior age to Beijingers.

According to the scientific method of geomagnetic instruments, these two tooth fossils belong to primitive humans 6.5438+0.7 million years ago and a new subspecies of Homo erectus-a new subspecies of Homo erectus. The discovery of Yuanmou man is of great significance to reveal the history of human evolution.
