Which dynasty did foreigners first appear in China?
Foreigners first appeared in China during the Qin and Han Dynasties.

Daqin people, now called Romans, entered China twice.

1. According to the Records of the Later Han Dynasty, in the first year of Yongning (A.D. 120), Wang Yong of Shan State (now northeast Myanmar) was sent to the Eastern Han Dynasty to offer a magician. The magician said that he was from Haixi. "Haixi is also Daqin, and the southwest of Shan State is connected with Daqin." Daqin refers to the Roman Empire, which should be the earliest record of foreigners arriving in China.

2. According to the Biography of the Western Regions, in the ninth year of Yan Xi (A.D. 166), An Dun, king of Daqin, sent envoys to offer gifts such as ivory, rhinoceros horn and tortoise shells from Japan (outside the Indo-China Peninsula). This is the earliest record of European envoys visiting China.

Extended data

There are many foreigners active in China's 5,000-year history of civilization. They spread China's advanced scientific and cultural technology to all parts of the world, and brought China's lack of scientific and cultural knowledge to China. Since the Qin and Han Dynasties, China has established a unified multi-ethnic feudal country, and its national strength has become increasingly strong, thus attracting a large number of foreigners to China.
