The photo has long been mistaken for a Zhiyuan ship, but its real identity is 1887 Portsmouth Jingyuan ship. As the flagship, the ship was taken by Lang Weili, so the prefect's flag was hung on the back mast. At that time, this kind of behavior was acquiesced by all parties, but a few years later, a regrettable "flag withdrawal" incident broke out unexpectedly. (The photo is collected in the Imperial War Museum in London, England, with the number Q22233)
Ship information: "Zhiyuan" and "Jingyuan" belong to the same class. The second ship is the fastest warship of Beiyang Navy, with a length of 76.2 meters, a width of 1 1.58 meters, a draft of 4.57 meters, a displacement of 2,300 tons, two steam engines, four coal-fired boilers, two-axis propulsion, a power of 6,850 HP and a speed of 65,000. The normal coal load is 200 tons, the maximum coal load is 520 tons, the endurance is 6000 nautical miles/10 knots, the armored deck is 3 inches thick (inclined) /2 inches thick (flat), the commander tower armor is 3 inches thick, the gun shield is 2 inches thick, and the whole ship has a capacity of 204-260 people. Pipeline belt is the rank of lieutenant.
The photo of the real Zhiyuan ship, which has never been known, was also taken in Portsmouth. From the photos, we can see a significant difference in appearance between Zhiyuan ship and Jingyuan ship-the diagonal truss on the mast of Zhiyuan ship is much lower than Jingyuan ship. If we look closely, we can also see that the torpedo tube (the circular outline below the porthole) is located near the waterline below the commander tower. There is a view among historians that Zhiyuan Ship was sunk because the torpedo tube on the side was hit and the torpedo in the tube exploded. (The photo is collected in the British Imperial War Museum,No. Q4 129 1).
Main weapons: Krupp 2 10mm main gun (two doors at the bow and two doors at the stern 1 door, each weighing 12 tons, with a caliber of 30 times), Armstrong 152mm auxiliary gun (each weighing 4 tons, with a caliber of 26 times) and 57mm Hakka rapid-fire gun. There are six 37mm Hakka guns, four 1 1mm 10 green guns (including 1 in "Shandali" Memorial Ship Park in Nagasaki, Japan) and four 18 inch torpedo tubes (65,438 for each warship).
