The highest temperature in Lanzhou history
After eight years of Qianlong, the temperature suddenly rose, not only in Beijing, Tianjin, Shanxi and other places. Emperor Qianlong naturally felt the heat in the palace, and he immediately ordered the court officials to explain. However, this once-in-a-century anomaly can't be found for a while, and the palace is caught in a fiery upsurge. Ice makers in Beijing use saltpeter to make ice, and batches of ice cubes are sent to the palace.

The harem of Qianlong is also unstable, and most of the clothes of concubines are divided into several layers. In this weather, many concubines are dizzy from heat. When the ice outside the palace came in, Qianlong ordered people to put the ice in the cool hall, and the concubines moved the bed directly here to cool off the heat.

All the businessmen in the shop stay indoors and hide at home to avoid the sun. For a time, there were few shops left. Poor families have to go out to work in order to make a living, but because the temperature is too hot, people's bodies can't get water after exposure, and they are all killed by the heat. Working farmers are at a loss in the face of the sun and land in the village, and officials can only stay in the yamen and dare not go out. At this time, people are very worried. It can be said that although there is no chaos, the depressing atmosphere is very strong.

The drought, high temperature and heat in midsummer will inevitably bring a series of effects, and the first one is the problem of water shortage. In modern society, the government or relevant organizations reserve a certain amount of spare water, ice and other resources every year in case of emergency. However, in ancient times, the imperial court did not have such a sense of crisis. In the homes of some dignitaries, some ice cubes are only stored in the freezer at home. These ice cubes can be taken out to cool down in summer.

However, when there is a severe drought, these limited ice cubes will not be able to make them spend the whole hot summer. In the eighth year of Qianlong, in August and September, some princes and nobles gradually began to lack water. However, compared with ordinary people, princes and nobles have the right to be rich. In natural disasters, they won't suffer great losses, and they can spend a lot of money on water and ice. Ordinary people are not so lucky.

Ordinary people seldom eat ice cubes, and drinking water comes from wells or rivers. In the case of sudden drought and high temperature, long-term no rain and sun exposure, a large amount of water evaporates, and the water level of rivers and wells will decrease. Even some rivers in the wilderness are exposed on the riverbed, and in severe cases, wells and rivers will dry up. It is reported that in the eight years of Qianlong, the well water in many places has dried up, and the water resources around the people are seriously in short supply.

With the drought, the temperature is getting higher and higher, the refugees who were already short of water went into shock because of dehydration, and the whole capital became hell. Ordinary people can't survive because of lack of domestic water, let alone crops in the field. The hot and dry weather makes the rice fields crack due to lack of irrigation, and it is difficult for rice seedlings to grow and bear fruit. Even in the scorching sun, many rice seedlings were dried up by the sun, and all the efforts of farmers for a year were in vain.

Because there is no harvest, farmers can't afford to pay taxes and have no food at home. A large number of refugees have appeared in many places. Whether these refugees can be properly handled is a very important factor to test whether a court can win the hearts of the people and continue to be in power. Qianlong and court ministers attached great importance to these refugees. During this year, Ganlong ordered the Ministry of Housing to distribute thousands of disaster relief funds, and also sent imperial envoys to the disaster areas many times to help the people tide over the difficulties by resettling the victims and building relief porridge sheds.

Soon after, Emperor Qianlong once again ordered the establishment of refugee shelters in many areas to distribute relief materials. Qianlong asked the ritual department to prepare ice water and summer medicine for treating diseases. In other words, some people will get sick in hot weather, but this is not the worst. Worst of all, there are so many people suffering from heatstroke in this world that it is easy to cause great disasters.

A summer resort was added at the city gate, and a large amount of materials were distributed to cool off the summer. This high temperature has brought a test to the Daqing disaster relief machine. Generally speaking, Gan Long and officials have a good control over the details and the overall situation. In order to solve the famine in Zhili area, the Qing government allocated1120,000 yuan, grain11mangoku to help the victims, and set up more than 200 officials to handle affairs, which shows that the situation is already very serious.

According to the records of later generations, the family coffers in the heyday of the Qing Dynasty were only11000,000 taels of silver, which also meant that the drought in the world was enough to suck up the entire imperial reserve. Fortunately, the Qing Dynasty was the peak of feudal dynasty and agricultural society.

Compared with disaster relief, the Qing court paid more attention to resuming production in the coming year, so the government gave many economic recovery plans to help save agriculture. In terms of grain, the Qing government gave "interest-free loans" to restore the hope of farmers with collapsed mentality to continue planting. On the other hand, this disaster can only become a thing of the past when we absorb more labor to help the victims and get the society back on track. According to the records of French missionaries who were active in the Qing Dynasty at that time, the average summer temperature in this year (eight years of Qianlong) reached an astonishing 40℃, and the highest temperature reached 44.4℃.

Therefore, in front of nature, human beings are insignificant. Under the influence of high temperature, water shortage and hunger, about tens of thousands of people were killed at that time. In fact, the reason why such a drought occurred at that time was not because of natural disasters, but because of a global climate change. Nowadays, human society will emit a lot of greenhouse gases, which will lead to the rise of global temperature. We should also be vigilant. The history of mankind is like a history of fighting disasters. We learned to make progress in suffering, just to prevent the tragedy from repeating itself.
