1950 in April 13, the seventh meeting of the Central People's Government Committee passed the Marriage Law of the People's Republic of China. On April 30th, President Mao Zedong of the Central People's Government issued an order, which took effect on May 30th. 1950. This is the first marriage law in New China. This is also the first law promulgated in New China.
