Weiqi originated in China and is said to be a waist game. During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, it was widely circulated in the society.
However, Qin destroyed six countries and unified the whole country, and there are not many records about Qin Wei's activities.
By the early years of the Eastern Han Dynasty, the society was still "knowledgeable in the world and good at chess". (Ban Gu's Book of Changes).
It was not until the middle and late Eastern Han Dynasty that Weiqi became popular again.
Archaeologically, the smallest chessboard found in China is 13 X 13 and 1977. On April 5th, an ancient tomb of Liao Dynasty was discovered in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Under the altar in the tomb, there is a square table of Go, with a height of 10 cm and a side length of 40 cm. The table is painted with white paint, and in the middle is a chessboard with a width of 30 cm and a length of 13.
197 1 year, an ancient tomb of the Tang Dynasty was discovered in Xiangyin, Hunan. A celadon Weiqi board was unearthed in the tomb, which was square, with a side length of 55cm and a vertical and horizontal length of 15.
1952, archaeologists found a stone chess board in the Eastern Han Tomb No.1 in Wang Du, Hebei Province. The chessboard is square with four legs under it, and the situation is 17, which provides vivid materials for the shape of Weiqi chessboard in Han and Wei Dynasties.
From the Three Kingdoms, 17 and 19 Weiqi went hand in hand, and went through the Western, Eastern, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, ending in the Tang Dynasty. There are about 600 years before and after.
