Suzhou, which has a history of more than 2500 years, has a rough statistics. The place names used in Suzhou include Wu Gou, Guwei, Guwei, Wuxian, Ted, Wu Jun, Wu Zhou, Changzhou, Pingjiang, Long Ping, Yuanhe and so on. Among them, the place name "Suzhou" has been abandoned several times. In the early years of Yongzheng in the Qing Dynasty, Yuan County was located in the southeast of Changzhou County, and Wu, Changzhou and Yuanhe counties were ruled by the same city, all of which were placed under Suzhou Prefecture. The Changmen in Suzhou are both Changmen and Wumen, so Suzhou is often called "Wumen" in ancient poems and paintings.
Since the ninth year of Emperor Yangdi's reign (AD 589), Emperor Wendi of Sui Dynasty changed his name to Suzhou because there was Gusu Mountain in the southwest of the city.
