Luoyang was the capital of the Tang Dynasty.

Wu Zetian's dictatorship was established in Luoyang. In September, 684, the capital was changed to the capital of God, and officials were stationed in Chang 'an. In 690, Wu Zetian put down the rebellion, abolished and succeeded to the throne as emperor, changed the title of the country to Zhou, which was called Wu Zhou in history, made Luoyang its capital, changed Luoyang into the capital of gods, and made Li Dan as heir. Wu Zetian became the only female emperor in the history of China.

From 684 to 706, Luoyang was the de facto capital for 22 years.

In April 883, Tang Jun recovered Chang 'an and then Luoyang. In the first month of 904, Tang Zhaozong moved the capital to Luoyang and died in the Tang Dynasty in April of 907. Luoyang has been the capital for three years.

Luoyang, which was called Zhen, Xibo, Luoyi, Luoyang, Luo Jing, Luo Jing, Shen Du and Luocheng in ancient times, was named after being located in the Yang of Luohe. It is one of the four ancient capitals in China and a world famous cultural city.

Luoyang has a history of more than 5,000 years of civilization, 4,000 years of city building and 1500 years of capital building. Later, three short dynasties appeared in the Central Plains, namely, Hou Liang, Later Tang Dynasty, Later Jin Dynasty, Later Han Dynasty and Wu Hou, which were called the Five Dynasties in history. Among them, Hou Liang, the later Tang Dynasty and the later Jin Dynasty were once the capitals of Luoyang, while the capitals of the later Han Dynasty and the later Zhou Dynasty were all Luoyang.
