Reflections on Three-body (I)
As a girl, I always thought I was not interested in science fiction, but the novel Three-body completely changed my opinion.
There are three novels in the three-body series, but I just finished reading the first one yesterday.
On the basis of current science and technology, the author Wei Liu's readers have constructed an overhead sci-fi world with a grand, mysterious and tragic tone. In the story, I met many physical terms, such as cosmic background radiation and Hubble redshift. In order to understand the development of the story, I always prepare Baidu Encyclopedia, and I will look up the terms I don't understand.
The story assumes that there is another habitable planet on Sirius outside the Milky Way, called Tribody. By chance, the three-body civilization and the earth civilization knew each other's existence, so both sides fell into a kind of thinking. On the earth, few people know each other's existence, but they basically live at the top of society. Due to the difference of knowledge background, their views on three-body civilization are quite different. Some people hope that the three-body man can survive on the earth and make the ugliness on the earth disappear. Others hope that the three-body man will never land on the earth, because what the three-body man can bring to the earth is not necessarily the gospel, and so on.
Although people on earth have different attitudes towards Santi people, Santi people regard people on earth as enemies. Although the three-body civilization is much higher than the earth civilization in science and technology, it will take four or five centuries for the three-body man to successfully land on the earth, from which many scientific and technological revolutions can take place on the earth and greatly improve his scientific research level, which is a great threat to the future three-body man.
This is the general tone of the novel Three-body. At the same time, this tone also made me fall into a kind of thinking, that is, whether the collision of two civilizations without any contact before brought peace or war. Obviously, historically, this conclusion may not be so optimistic. After Columbus discovered the New World, European civilization invaded America, plundered property, burned and looted, which made the primitive civilization of America last forever and was finally ruled and colonized by Europeans. I think this is because every civilization is like an individual. If we let it into a dark place, they will feel insecure, and such insecurity is likely to lead to some cruel consequences. Indians in history may be such victims.
The same is true of the novel Three-body. Although the three-body civilization is much more advanced than the earth civilization, there will be many uncertainties in the future as time goes by. Maybe three or four hundred years later, the earth civilization will catch up with the three-body civilization. At that time, it is also a question whether the three-body civilization can save itself. Therefore, as a person on earth and a threesome, the wisest thing to do may be to try our best to preserve ourselves and destroy each other at the same time.
Perhaps this conclusion makes many people feel pessimistic, but it is the most realistic result, especially living in our real society, we may often encounter similar situations or make similar choices. But as an individual, I still hope that different nationalities, races, religions, countries and so on can take this as a boundary, find a peaceful road beyond the threat of force, understand and agree with each other, and jointly build a better future.
Reflections on Three-body (Ⅱ)
Nothing scares me more than the dark ignorance of the universe.
I remember the first night after reading the three-body model, I remembered the shock of the three-body model 1 cover when no one was around, and looked up at the night sky, which happened to be a sentence in the book: "Black, true _ _-black." I have been in a trance for a long time, and fear breeds in my heart.
Recently, I bought a book "Three-body Reading" by Sanlian Bookstore, which contains a lot of profound enlightenment about the three-body content, but I want to ramble about this novel in a completely unscientific way.
Beyond the mundane, beyond the rules, beyond the earth and discover the universe. We are just a speck of dust in the universe. The politics and humanities under the sun, the history and civilization of tens of thousands and thousands of years, are too small to be seen clearly. In my mind, I can only see a fast-forward picture of the emergence, development and demise of human beings, just like a fleeting moment. Only the universe, the infinite universe is real, no matter how many grand contradictions are talked about in the novel, but that's all they always express. Liu's dark forest theory may not be completely correct. We don't know if this is right or wrong, but I know it's not science fiction. Criticism of plot and theory is put aside. From another level far from reality, this is also reality. But sadly, after feeling so grand, we still have to accept the domination of reality and forget the endless fear, shock and agitation of the universe that once made us regard ourselves as floating dust. This may be a circular chain, hovering between the so-called reality and the real reality, full of thoughts.
Narrowing down infinite levels, I am thinking of a prominent and recurring problem reflected in the three-body structure: "The real devil is an infinitely expanding public opinion."
Every one of us speaks on the basis of self-interest and is deceived by external information. When people like Chichiwa are together, impulses become rational and mistakes become correct, which is enough to change everything. After all, "the law does not blame the public." We always stand in the position of interests. If no one infringes on our own interests, everything will be fine, and we will be greeted with courtesy and laughter. If you go against your own interests, the development of things will be unstoppable. In this way, the beauty of socialist countries will be highlighted. Only when the leaders are tough can long-term planning and macro-control be realized. People are thinking about the present, even those who have received higher education and know the long-term development still knowingly commit crimes, because protecting the interests of their immediate family members and family members is the purpose, and no one or few people are willing to contribute their own interests for the so-called macro perspective in peacetime.
From the perspective of self-interest, in the unknown situation, it becomes a chain of suspicion, which may become a universal law in any dark forest. The dark forest here can be placed at any level and field. I need to survive, and you need to survive, but the survival materials are not enough for the two of us. What do we do? This has become the law of the dark forest: First, survival is the first need of civilization. Second, the total amount of matter in the universe is limited. "Lose humanity, lose a lot. Throw the beast, throw one. " This is an eternal law of the jungle.
But is this correct? In Three-body, Liu used a lot of pen and ink to describe human nature. Among them, kindness, pity, responsibility and redemption are many. Is our society caused by animal nature or human nature? Should we be completely disappointed in human nature out of our own darkness?
Humans have feelings. There is a passage in "Three-body". The law is unchanged, but emotions, or random disturbances, can never be manipulated, just like three people never know what human beings are thinking. Undeniably, in the torrent of history, there are countless bright spots of human nature. It is the tendency of human beings to be good that promotes the progress of society. From slavery to feudalism, from feudalism to capital (society), the wrong and bound are rejected, and freedom is slow and firm.
In Ye's thought, high technology = Gao Wenming = high morality, so he chose to let Santi people wander around the Red Shore base, which Ye thought was hopeless, and it was for this reason that the original members of e to joined ETO.
At the beginning of "Three-body", Einstein told Shao Lin's father: "In China, any thought beyond flying will fall heavily on the ground, because the gravity of reality is too heavy."
Perhaps Liu has a deep-rooted and proved correct thought: ideological emancipation is the premise of social progress. This theory has also been confirmed in the post-trough era. So, can we draw a conclusion that ideological emancipation is the expression of human beings' tendency towards goodness, and the social progress brought about by it is also the result of human beings' tendency towards goodness? I vaguely saw the resistance, agitation and ideological trend in history.
On the other hand, "goodness" is also the bottom line, and there is no agreed standard for goodness. It may be the bottom line, a rule, rooted in thought, which makes the wicked abide by it, as if it were controlled by history, so it is the present society.
The greatest, compared with laws, rules and rules, is an inorganic disturbance and a sudden thought, which I collectively call "emotion", which silently grasps everything.
Liu's "Three-body" has gone beyond the category of pure science fiction, and he has explored more things. Liu's "Three-body" is over, but the reality of "Three-body" continues, "Death lives forever".
Reflections on Three-body (Ⅲ)
I recently watched the first and second parts of the trilogy "Three-body", which attracted me very much.
This set of books is mainly about three three-body people whose sun runs irregularly. After countless times of destruction and rebirth of civilization, they know the existence of the earth and are ready to attack it. During the time when the three-body people are preparing to invade the earth, of course, human beings will not sit still. Taking advantage of the fatal flaw of the transparent thinking of the three-body man, he made a "face-wall plan" and selected four "face-wall men" in order to launch a counterattack against the three-body man. Three "wall-broken people" were selected by the earth's three-body organization, ready to fight back against those who face the wall. Luo Ji is the last one that hasn't been broken. After being dormant for two centuries, he finally knew the truth of cosmic civilization and finally defended the earth. ...
The book also introduces two axioms of cosmic civilization: 1. Survival is the first need of civilization. 2. Civilization keeps growing, but the total amount of matter in the universe remains unchanged. Through these two axioms, the author draws an amazing inference: as long as one civilization in the universe knows the existence of another civilization, it must be destroyed, or it will perish! As the book says, the universe is a dark forest, and every civilization is a hunter with a gun, sneaking in the forest like a ghost, gently pushing the branches in the way, trying not to make a sound, even breathing carefully; He must be careful, because the forest is full of sneaky hunters like him. If he finds other life, there is only one thing he can do: shoot it. In this forest, others are a hell and an eternal threat, and any life that exposes its existence will soon be destroyed ... This reasoning shocked me very much. Although this truth has nothing to do with our life, it still makes me feel deeply: in daily life, we must consider problems in many ways, even the worst case, because then we don't have to be afraid of any situation.
This book also contains a lot of scientific knowledge, which makes me learn a lot. For example, the relationship between different dimensions of matter and so on. I still don't understand some terms. I went online to learn about it, such as: threshold, strong interaction. ...
I haven't seen the third part of Three-body, which is said to be more exciting. I am very much looking forward to it!
Reflections on Three-body (IV)
"Three-body ⅰ" actually tells three stories, three desperate stories.
Ye Wenjie's story represents the despair of human society, Wang Miao represents the despair of the future, and the three-body civilization represents the despair of the whole life form. There, the purpose of survival is only survival, no joy, no sadness, no happiness, no pain, and the rest is only endless indifference and life like mechanical parts. Such a cold world gives people a sense of despair, because the real horror is not that an ugly monster suddenly appears in front of your eyes. The real horror is that your mind is taken into a completely dark and unfamiliar death zone with no way out. This dead domain is the three-body world. The three-body world is really like the infinite blue sky behind the white clouds. As long as you think about it carefully, its quality will far exceed your imagination.
More than 200 rounds of magnificent civilization destruction and rebirth, far beyond the traditional definition of science fiction and aliens. Most works describing aliens often fall into three stereotypes: god, man and beast. In those works, aliens are either omnipotent gods or the same kind with complex feelings and values like human beings, or they become pure evil and exist, waiting for superheroes to destroy their monsters. These stereotypes were completely broken in Three-body. If we want to describe the three-body world, the most accurate and appropriate is "alien civilization", which has a completely different living environment and value orientation from the human world. More than 200 rounds of epic civilization have completely become a world of their own. Among them, the fantastic and magnificent imagination of dry warehouse, man-machine, proton computer, etc., makes people admire the outstanding imagination of the imaginative and ingenious "creator". In addition, the three-body world is worth pondering by those of us who are bathed in the warm sunshine of the "eternal age" at all times. How lucky we are to have nurtured such a vibrant world in 10 billion years. This is a gift from the universe, and we should not waste it. Now let's pull back from four light-years away and look at the people around us.
Ye is a pure tragic figure. He lost his father when he was young, his husband in middle age and his daughter in old age, and he tasted the bitterness of the world. In that twisted and crazy era, her character was pushed to the extreme, which laid the groundwork for the final "ultimate betrayal". But her pain is so sympathetic that I don't want to psychologically condemn her for murdering her husband and betraying the whole mankind. Fortunately, the "creator" may also be deeply moved by her experience, creating a Qijiatun for her, where her trembling body and mind will get temporary peace, which is one of the few warm colors in her life picture. Speaking of Wang Miao, I think he is just a string of pearls, which has no legend in itself. On the contrary, the role of Shi Qiang is impressive. In Three-body ⅰ, a novel with profound scientific connotation, most of the characters in the book are talented elites in physics and mathematics. However, in the end, as the highest wise man, he was so rude and heartless, which has to be said that the "creator" deliberately did it. In the face of enemies many times stronger than themselves, all scientific and technological equipment is not worth mentioning. What really determines life and death is the strength of spirit and courage in everyone's heart.
Countless ethnic groups on our planet have staged countless scenes of making a comeback when they are down, so I believe that even with alien invaders, human civilization will not be easily destroyed. This is also the place where I don't agree with the "creator" the most. If all mankind, including their own children and grandchildren, are destroyed, will there really be an earth rebel like the "Advent School"? Will the selfish nature of human beings disappear even in the intellectual class? This answer may only be available when humans can really communicate with alien civilizations. Looking up at the vast starry sky again, who can say that four light-years away, no nation tempered by disasters is silently watching us?
After reading "Three-body Ⅰ", I don't feel like reading a novel, but more like going through a period of history. It is really memorable to meditate quietly after taking off the "V-suit". How happy literature would be if every author could write novels with an attitude of expounding history.
Reflections on "Three-body"
Recently, I was upset and didn't want to see professional things, so I just downloaded "Three-body" and flipped through it on my mobile phone. The result was out of control, and I just finished reading this 880,000-word masterpiece in one breath. I can't be calm for a long time after reading it, and I have an anxiety that I can't let go. I always want to find a similar plot to fill the emptiness of sudden collapse.
Reading science fiction can open people's minds and make them roam in the vast universe, but science fiction, like Naoko, is like a lock, which limits people's imagination in a given space, making it difficult for readers to break through the author's blockade and can only become a copy of the author's imagination. I also like to build my own universe before seeing the three-body In that sky, I will continue to add elements to my knowledge and make it run continuously within a reasonable knowledge range. Whenever life is boring, I will enter this world to entertain myself. I don't know if others will do this. Perhaps with the popularity of large-scale online games, many people's world has been replaced by online games, which is much easier and more interesting than trying to build a world by myself, but I am still entertaining in this ancient way. At least you can use your head and have your own originality. But after watching "Three-body", even this originality was deprived, and the world I built started a brand-new construction like a big bang, even subverting the previous operation mode. The elements inside have become more sci-fi, the structure is more reasonable, and the whole world has developed to a very mature stage. But I know this is not the world I built. However, according to Liu's logic, the fragments in Three-body were reorganized with the characters in My World. My world has become a replica of the world in Three-body. But I can't escape from this structure, because I think it is the most ideal and mature structure.
Now let's talk about "Three-body". The world created by Liu is so shocking that people can't help looking up at the strange starry sky, feeling the profoundness in the universe and starting to think about the meaning of life again. After a long period of natural evolution, human beings were born on the earth, and they kept groping in the dark world and finally entered the era of industrial civilization. In this era, human science and technology have achieved geometric growth, and human beings have conquered the world, which seems unprecedented and can pull God down from the altar. But how small human beings are. On the scale of hundreds of millions of light-years, what can human beings be, but they are "bugs in sewers", perhaps not even bugs. Humans have been unable to break through gravity and travel in space. The speed of the spacecraft is less than one ten thousandth of the speed of light, and the pace is always limited to the gravity of the earth, and no sound from another world in the universe can be heard. It's like a child desperately shouting around in the infinite darkness, but there is no response at all. How lonely human beings are in this universe! However, these lonely bugs in the universe, so insignificant, are still busy with more insignificant things. Recognizing the smallness of the universe should not be a negative catalyst, but should be more dynamic and cherish the only life in such a vast and profound universe. Weakness and ignorance are not obstacles to survival, but arrogance is. We should "give civilization to time, not civilization to time" to make life have its due value.
