Historical Evolution of Zhongshan Wharf
19 12 (in the second year of the Republic of China), the ferry department was set up by the Jinpu Railway Bureau to take over the ferry, and the ferry business was transferred to the state.

1928 (17th year of the Republic of China) pier was completed on August 8th. In order to ensure the smooth progress of Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Feng 'an ceremony, the National Government decided to build a pier on Xiaguan River to welcome Dr. Sun's coffin. It was named the Capital Wharf of the Jin-Pu Railway. After the Feng 'an ceremony, in memory of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, all the places where the coffin went were named "Zhongshan", such as Zhongshan Gate, Zhongshan Bridge and Zhongshan Road. Shimonoseki Wharf, where the coffin landed, was also named Zhongshan Wharf, which is still in use today.

At present, there is a large publicity page in the waiting hall of Zhongshan Wharf, which introduces this historical fact in detail with a lot of pictures and materials. On April 23rd, China People's Liberation Army crossed the river and occupied Nanjing. 1949. The troops crossing the river landed at Zhongshan Wharf and entered Nanjing from Yijiangmen. Since then, Zhongshan Wharf and the neighboring Jiangmen and Xiaguan power plants have become important places to commemorate the battle of crossing the river. Some citizens even suggested building a memorial hall for the Battle of Crossing the River at Zhongshan Pier.

With the recovery of Nanjing's economy, as the only river crossing channel at that time, Zhongshan Wharf became busy. During the peak period, there are about 150 flights in JAL. 1968, the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge was completed and opened to traffic, which greatly eased the demand for ferry crossing the river, and the passenger flow at Zhongshan Wharf also dropped rapidly. Especially with the suspension of Nanjing North Railway Station (Pukou Station) again in 2004, the demand for ferry crossing the river was further reduced.
