HKCEE's subjects are: Chinese, mathematics, foreign languages, ideology and politics, physics, chemistry, history, geography and biology. Full marks for Chinese, Mathematics and English subjects 150, and full marks for other subjects 100. Test scores are presented as "pass/fail", grades and scores. The proportion of unqualified candidates does not exceed 2% of the total number of candidates in this subject in the current period, and the results of other candidates are regarded as qualified. The scores of other subjects are divided into five grades: A, B, C, D and E from high to low.

The proportion of students in each grade is: A 15%, B 30%, C 30%, D and E (including 0, the same below) totaling 25%. Grade e is unqualified.
