In the Middle East, Kurds are the fourth largest nation after Arabs, Turks and Persians. Kurds are one of the oldest ethnic groups in the Middle East. According to legend, they are descendants of ancient Medes. They have lived in the mountains of Kurdistan for more than 2000 years and are used to nomadic life. In recent years, Kurds have been clamoring for independence, but they have been repeatedly oppressed by Turkey, Iraq and other countries. Most Kurds are Muslims, belong to Sunnis and speak Kurdish. Kurdish is written in two ways: mainly in Arabic letters in Iraq and Iran, and mainly in Latin letters in Turkey and Syria. Although the two writing styles are actually similar, it may be because of the long-term separation that the two languages have begun to have obvious differences in terms of words.
