Nanjing Art College, referred to as "Nanyi" for short, is the only comprehensive art college in Jiangsu Province, and it is also the earliest independent art college established in China and continues to this day. Founded by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of People's Republic of China (PRC) and the People's Government of Jiangsu Province, it is a member of the China-ASEAN Art College Alliance and one of the six major art colleges in China.

Jiangsu is a provincial key university, an advanced unit of school art education in China, an experimental area of national innovative talent training mode, and a university with national characteristics. According to the decision of the Central Ministry of Culture, Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts, Suzhou Academy of Fine Arts and Shandong University Art Department merged into East China Art Institute.
