Beijing Botanical Garden 1956 was established with the approval of the State Council, with a planned area of 400 hectares, with a maximum distance of about 3.5 kilometers from east to west and 2.5 kilometers from north to south. By 20 14, 200 hectares of open tourist areas have been built. Beijing Botanical Garden consists of four parts: plant exhibition area, cultural landscape of historical sites, nature reserve and scientific research area.

The plant exhibition area (about 94 hectares) is divided into three parts: ornamental plant area (42.47 hectares), tree garden area (44.9 hectares) and greenhouse area (6 hectares). The ornamental plant area consists of characteristic gardens, mainly including rose garden, peach garden, peony garden, lilac garden, begonia garden, Mulan garden, Jixiu garden (bamboo garden), perennial flower garden and plum garden. Rose Garden is the largest professional rose garden in China at present, which has cultivated nearly 1 1,000 rose varieties. Taohua Garden is a professional garden with the largest variety of peaches collected in the world. Cherry Valley, with dense forests, is an important nature conservation education area in the suburbs of Beijing.

The Botanical Garden mainly displays the plant resources in Northeast China, Northwest China and North China, taking into account some subtropical ornamental plants in Central China and South China. It has both scientific and technological content and garden appearance. According to the principle of "building gardens according to local conditions, guiding according to the situation and highlighting plant landscaping", the Botanical Garden has built pine and cypress areas and more than a dozen characteristic gardens. Small gardens have different styles and characteristics. There are China's freehand brushwork pastoral scenery, French court-style neat and rigorous layout, and English-style open and stretched pictures.

Memorial pavilion

The memorial pavilion of the "December 9" movement is located in the Shifang courtyard opposite the stone carving and the ditch defending North China. Peng Zhen, chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee (NPCSC), wrote eight gold inscriptions. * * * Monument was inscribed by Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League and Beijing Federation of Students, and by famous calligrapher Liu Shousen. In the south of the monument, the memorial pavilion consists of three triangular pavilions, which were donated by the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League and the Beijing Student Union. 1June, 1980, when the workers in the Cherry Valley Class of the Management Department of Beijing Botanical Garden were cleaning up the weeds beside the Cherry Valley, they found the words "Defend North China" engraved on a large bluestone beside the Valley. When Liu Daosheng, Chairman of CPPCC, visited Cherry Valley, he confirmed that the words "Defend North China" were left by the patriotic and anti-Japanese Peiping Students' Federation during the December 9th Movement, numbered 1935. Yingtaogou is a place where the Beiping Student Union and the People's First Team jointly held a summer camp during the "December 9th Movement" and used various forms to unite and educate young people. From 1936 to 1937, three summer camps were held here, with 500 to 600 young students participating. On the eve of commemorating the 50th anniversary of the "December 9th Movement", Deng Liqun and others, then Minister of Propaganda Department of the CPC, proposed to establish a memorial site for the "December 9th Movement" in Yingtaogou, Xishan, in order to remember the revolutionary martyrs and enlighten future generations. Peng Zhen, chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee (NPCSC), wrote the name of the memorial hall for the "December 9" movement. Kang He, State Councilor and veteran of the December 9th Movement, laid the foundation stone for the memorial hall. The memorial pavilion consists of three triangular pavilions. The originality lies in that the triangle is the epitome of the camping tent when the "December 9" Movement held a military summer camp. The three triangles form a three-dimensional word "Gong", which symbolizes the awakening of the broad masses of people and their determination to resist aggression. The tall and straight architectural lines symbolize the youthful and positive spirit of young people. Three groups of buildings, large and small, indicate that the revolutionary tradition has been passed down from generation to generation, and the revolutionary cause has successors.
