China's earthquake, China is one of the countries with frequent earthquakes. As early as more than 3,000 years ago, there was a record of "Taishan earthquake in the seventh year of summer (BC 183 1 year)". The earliest description is the Western Zhou earthquake in Shaanxi in the second year of Zhou Youwang (780 BC).
The rich seismic data accumulated over thousands of years provide valuable scientific basis for earthquake research. China was the first country to invent the seismograph and use it to observe earthquakes.
Extended data
Earthquakes in China are mostly distributed in bands, which can be divided into:
1, southeast coast and Taiwan Province seismic belt. Taiwan Province Province and its adjacent sea areas have the most frequent seismic activity, followed by the coastal areas of Guangdong and Fujian provinces and the northern part of South Island.
2. It starts from Shenyang in the north, passes through Liaodong Peninsula, Bohai Bay, Shandong Tancheng and Anhui Lujiang, and reaches Huangmei earthquake zone in Hubei in the south. There have been many earthquakes of magnitude 7 or above in the history of this area, and even earthquakes of magnitude 8 have occurred.
3. The southern foot of Yanshan Mountain, the two sides of North China Plain and the eastern foot of Taihang Mountain, a series of basins and Weihe River basins in central Shanxi. It is one of the seismic activity zones with high intensity and high frequency in the history of China.
4. Helan Mountain and Liupanshan Mountain in central China cross the Qinling Mountains to the south, pass through Wenxian County in Gansu Province, along the northwest and west edge of Sichuan Basin, and reach eastern Yunnan, with a total length of more than 2,000 kilometers, which is a huge strong earthquake area in China and the dividing line between the eastern and western seismic activity areas in China.
5. The Himalayan-western Yunnan region is a part of the Mediterranean-South Asia seismic belt passing through China. The epicentres in this area are dense and strong earthquakes occur frequently.
