When I was a child, I heard my mother tell an old legend about our Jishi family. The story is not long, but the plot is thrilling, swords and shadows, and more importantly, it is related to the fate of the country. I don't know if it really happened, just listen to it as a story.
My father's hometown is called Jill Zhang Tun, where two thirds of the people are surnamed Ji, but why is it called Jill Zhang Tun? Because in ancient times, people who took Tun as a place name were all places where the country camped during the war. My father's hometown used to be a place where troops were stationed, so even though most people living there were surnamed Ji, they dared not change the place names at will. But the most curious thing is why there are so many surnames in Jill Zhang Tun.

I don't know which dynasty or generation it was. It is said that there was once an ancestor named Ji, an official general, who held state power and wanted to tamper with the throne for ulterior motives. Later, when the emperor found out, he flew into a rage and ordered all the names of Ji to be cut off. At the emperor's command, all the people surnamed Ji in the country were wiped out and fell in a pool of blood. Only a grandmother named Ji, pregnant with six women, went to the deep mountains of Yunnan, threw the yellow seal with her into a weedy paddy field, and then lived in seclusion in the deep mountains, cultivated the land and raised Ji carefully.
The strangest thing is that later generations found that the land where the old grandmother lost her imperial seal not only grew well, but also doubled the harvest compared with the same size land. Therefore, in order to commemorate this great old grandmother, later generations called this field Yuxi Field. For me, whether there is such a field has never been verified, but after listening to my mother's words, I have always believed in the existence of this field.

So far, there are not many auspicious surnames, which should be regarded as small surnames. I heard that the only ancestor later gave birth to two sons. As adults, one of them stayed in Yunnan, the other served the country, led troops to fight and went to Zhejiang. Now all auspicious surnames are mainly distributed in these two places. A few years ago, I saw Jishi families from all over the country come to Yunnan to recognize their ancestors and return to their ancestors. I know for sure that the earliest ancestor of auspicious surname was in Zhangjitun, Zhenxiong, Yunnan, but I don't know whether this ancestor is the descendant of the emperor as the legend says. Think about this legend that once had a mighty golden horse. I can't help myself. Hope is just a legend and can't be taken seriously.
