Second, the historical environment: At that time, when the whole country was resisting Japan, the values behind Zhang Ailing and her works still made people feel very different and unacceptable. From 65438 to 0944, she met Hu Lancheng and fell in love with her, pushing her prejudice to a more irreversible position.
1943 and 1944 have become the most important years of Zhang Ailing's literature. It can be said that almost all the most important works of Zhang Ailing were born in these two years. The First Furnace Incense, the Second Furnace Incense, Love in the City, The Golden Lock, Red Rose and White Rose, all the representative works of Zhang Ailing that we can think of, were published intensively in those two years, and the quality and speed were staggering. Zhang Zijing, Zhang Ailing's younger brother, recalled this period in his later years and said that his sister was almost "red and purple" on the beach at that time. Today, writers including Wang Xiaobo are critical of Zhang Ailing's later works, but there are not many criticisms of her early works, mainly in the past two years. It can be said that it was these short stories published by Zhang Ailing in 1943 and 1944 that established her due position in the history of China literature.
Three. Brief introduction of Zhang Ailing:
Zhang Ailing (1920.9.30—1995.9.8), a modern writer in China, was originally named Zhang Tang in Tangshan, Hebei. 1920 was born on September 30th, a declining aristocratic mansion in the west of Shanghai Concession.
Her works mainly include novels, essays, screenplays and literary works, and her letters are also studied as part of her works.
During the period of 1944, Zhang Ailing met and interacted with Hu Lancheng. From 65438 to 0973, Zhang Ailing settled in LA, and from 65438 to September 8, 1995, it coincided with the Mid-Autumn Festival. Zhang Ailing's landlord found her dead at the age of 75 in her apartment on Rochester Avenue in westwood, California, due to arteriosclerosis and cardiovascular disease. She died a week before she was found. On September 30th, her friend held a memorial service for her. After the memorial service, the ashes were scattered into the Pacific Ocean.
