In ancient times, Nanfeihe River and Dongfeihe River were both called fat (feishui) water. As soon as we entered Jianghuai, two historic cities, Hefei and Shouchun, were born. The name of Hefei comes from this water; "The Battle of Feishui" made Feishui famous all over the world. Among them, Nanfeihe, also known as Shi Shui, flows through Hefei and flows into the Yangtze River through Chaohu Lake, which is the "mother river" of Hefei. Nanfeihe River is more than 70 kilometers long, with a total drainage area of 1640 square kilometers. There are many tributaries, and there have been different opinions about where the positive source is for many years. In order to find out its real source, since August 1 2009, Anhui Hydrological Bureau, Hefei Hydrological Bureau, Hefei Water Affairs Bureau, Feixi County Water Affairs Bureau and other units have formed a scientific investigation team, and hired a well-known professor from Hohai University as a consultant to conduct a comprehensive investigation of Heyuan area and main water systems in Feixi County within the scope of Nanfeihe River Basin. He also consulted the historical records such as Hefei Water Conservancy Records, Feixi County Water Conservancy Records, Changjiang River Records and Chaohu Lake Records, as well as the arguments about the source of Nanfeihe River in modern times, and preliminarily sorted out all kinds of statements about the source of Nanfeihe River in history, and conducted field investigations one by one (the reporter followed the investigation team on foot and reported it exclusively for many times).
From 201August 10, the investigation team made three visits to the source area of the upper reaches of Nanfei River. During the investigation, the length, discharge, basin area and source topography of the three rivers and their tributaries in the upper reaches of Dongpu Reservoir were comprehensively investigated. Through the analysis and comparison of the survey results, it is found that the upper reaches of Dongpu Reservoir have the longest river, the largest discharge and basin area, and the straightest river regime, and it is determined as the main channel of Nanfeihe River, excluding Lisi River and Banqiao River. There are three tributaries in the upper reaches of Dongpu Reservoir: left, middle and right. After comprehensive analysis and comparison in the same way, the final conclusion is that Nanhefei River is the right branch of the upper reaches of Dongpu Reservoir, starting from the southeast of Jianghuai watershed and crossing the junction of Changfeng County in Feixi. The initial source of surface water flow in Nanfeihe River is the border area between Feixi and Changfeng counties in the southeast of Jianghuai watershed, and Hongshiqiao in the northwest of Helaojia Village in Liugao Town of Feixi County. The establishment of Jacky Monument will help to better protect the source of Nanfeihe River, thus protecting the water quality of Nanfeihe River. Combine source protection with xinqiao airport's construction and tourism development, promote the adjustment of agricultural structure, speed up the pace of greening and beautification, build ecological water conservancy, and achieve harmony between man and nature through guidance, demonstration and support.
