The history of China Map Publishing House can be traced back to Wuchang Geographic Society in 1896 and AsiaInfo Geographic Society in 190 1 year. The Map Publishing House of New China was founded in 1954, which was transformed from 16 public-private joint ventures in Shanghai, Nanjing, Wuhan and Beijing. 1987 Map Publishing House was renamed China Map Publishing House with the approval of the Central Committee. 1997 merged with surveying and mapping publishing house, retaining the brand of surveying and mapping publishing house, with two brands in one institution.

China Map Publishing House is powerful, with total assets of more than 700 million yuan and office area of more than 20,000 square meters. It has 28 management departments, offices in Shanghai, Wuhan and Xi 'an, as well as guest houses, hotels and many companies.
