Interpretation of historical terms: sending envoys to Tang Dynasty
The envoys in the Tang Dynasty were the official envoys sent by Japan to the Tang Dynasty in the 7th to 9th centuries, and became the carrier of China culture in Japan in its heyday.

Sending envoys to the Tang Dynasty continued the Japanese mission to China as envoys. The first envoy to the Tang Dynasty was a dog who went to Yutian to shovel in 630 AD. Since then, Japanese envoys have been sent to the Tang Dynasty for more than ten rounds, and they didn't continue until Sugawara no michizane suggested abolishing it in 894. The intermediate time is more than 200 years. It has made great contributions to the wide spread of Tang culture and Buddhism culture in Japan.

Extended data:

The purpose of sending envoys to the Tang Dynasty is not only to show friendship and absorption with the Tang Dynasty, but also to collect information on the Korean Peninsula and East Asia. There is not necessarily only one envoy in the Tang Dynasty. When more than one person is involved, there are "ambassadors" and "deputy ambassadors", and sometimes there are letters of guarantee about ambassadors.

Along with the envoys, there were also overseas students and monks sent to the Tang Dynasty. Every time we go out to sea, 400-500 people cross the sea in four boats. Before departure, the people who sent envoys from the Tang Dynasty will take their shipmates to the Yoshida Society in Osaka to pray for peace at sea. After that, the whole ship set out from Jinji, passed Jixi River to Dabanwan, and then to Nanbojin.

Go to Kinna in Fukuoka through Seto Inland Sea, and then go to Xuan Jie Beach. In the past, when Japan and the Korean Peninsula were friendly, they would land on the north shore of the Korean Peninsula and then enter the Tang Dynasty by land. However, since Japan became hostile to Silla, it went directly to China by sea. Because Japan's navigation technology was not fully mature at that time, Tang and his party often encountered shipwrecks when sailing at sea.
