In 1980s, heavy oil catalytic cracking catalyst, USY molecular sieve and REHY molecular sieve, RN- 1 hydrofining catalyst, Pt-Re reforming catalyst series, SKI xylene isomerization catalyst, Daqing atmospheric residue catalytic cracking technology, needle coke production technology, high-power tank engine oil, etc. Was developed. The overall technology is close to the world level, and it has begun to form the dominant technical field of SIIC, which has played a key role in realizing the basic self-sufficiency of technology and catalysts in China's modern refining industry. In 1990s, FCC family technologies were developed, among which: DCC technology won the first prize of 1995, the only national technological invention, and realized the export of China refining technology; New ZRP molecular sieve, heavy oil processing combined process technology, medium-pressure hydrogenation upgrading technology, medium-pressure hydrocracking technology, low-pressure combined bed reforming technology, new solvent aromatic extraction technology, and special lubricating oil and grease for Shenzhou series manned spacecraft, missiles, satellites, ships and amphibious armored vehicles have been developed. The technology has basically reached the international level, and some technologies have reached the international advanced or even international leading level. A number of technologies and products began to go abroad and gradually entered the markets of Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Europe and America.

Among them, GOR series catalysts for reducing olefin content in FCC gasoline and MIP technology for producing more isoparaffins have been widely used in refineries, forming a set of clean gasoline production technologies that meet the characteristics of China refinery and have independent intellectual property rights in China. Faced with great challenges, China Petrochemical Refinery has improved the quality of gasoline with less investment and lower cost in a short time, and achieved remarkable economic and social benefits.
