The New Dynasty (AD 9- AD 23), with only fourteen years left, was a very short-lived dynasty in the history of China. The founding emperor Wang Mang was the nephew of the Queen of the Western Han Dynasty. In the late Western Han Dynasty, Wang Mang gradually took control of state affairs. In 9 AD, Wang Mang became emperor himself, with the title "Xin" and "". It was renamed "Tianfeng" in 14 and "Rehmannia glutinosa" in 20 AD. At the end of the new dynasty, there was great social chaos and a great peasant uprising broke out. In 23 AD, in Kunyang, Wang Mang's army was defeated by the army of Emperor Geng Shi. In the same year, the outlaw invaded Chang 'an, Wang Mang was killed and the new dynasty perished.
