Danzhou belongs to Hainan Province.

Danzhou City (including Yangpu Economic Development Zone) is located in the northwest of Hainan Island, adjacent to Beibu Gulf. The land area is 3406 square kilometers, accounting for about one tenth of the province. The coastline is 300 kilometers long, accounting for about one-sixth of the province. It is the city and county with the largest land area and the longest coastline in Hainan Province. It has three offices, 16 towns and 3 19 village (neighborhood) committees, with a resident population of nearly one million, accounting for about one tenth of the province.

Danzhou, formerly known as Boer County, was the earliest area in Hainan where the administrative system was established, and the county was established here in the first year of Yuanfeng in the Western Han Dynasty (BC 1 10). Tang Wude changed his name to Danzhou in five years and Danxian in 19 12 years.

1March, 993, Danzhou was changed from county to city with the approval of the State Council. In July, 2008, the Third Plenary Session of the Fifth Hainan Provincial Party Committee clearly put forward that Danzhou should be built into a central city in western Hainan, and Danzhou prefecture-level cities should be endowed with powers and responsibilities. February 201May 19 was officially approved as a prefecture-level city in the State Council.

Yanglan Hot Spring is located in Yanglan Farm. Hot spring tourist resort is a characteristic tourist resort developed by using local hot spring resources in Hainan Province. The hot spring water here is not only large in reserves, high in temperature and good in water quality, but also colorless and tasteless, with a maximum temperature of 97.3℃.

Dongpo Academy is located in Zhonghe Town, Hainan Province, more than 40 kilometers away from the big town where the current municipal government is located. It was built in memory of Su Dongpo. Built in 1098, it was rebuilt and renamed in Ming dynasty. Dongpo Academy is the highest institution of learning in Danzhou, which has trained many talents and become one of the important cultural relics in Hainan.
