The predecessor of Beijing Normal University is Teachers College of Shi Jing University, which was founded in 1902. 1908 was renamed as Shi Jing Excellent Normal School, which was established independently. 19 12, renamed Beijing Normal University. 1923, the school was renamed as Beijing Normal University, becoming the first normal university in the history of China. 193 1, Beiping Women's Normal University merged into Beijing Normal University. 1950, Chairman Mao inscribed the name of Beijing Normal University. 65438-0952 Fu Jen Catholic University merged into Beijing Normal University. On the occasion of the centenary celebration in 2002, the people of China, the Ministry of Education and Beijing decided to focus on the construction of Beijing Normal University. In May 2002, the Ninth Party Congress of Beijing listed Beijing Normal University as a world-class university to support its construction.
Since its founding in the late Qing Dynasty, Beijing Normal University has always shared the same fate with the Chinese nation's progressive cause of striving for independence, freedom, democracy and prosperity, and played an important role in patriotic movements such as the May 4th Movement and the December 9th Movement. Li Dazhao, Lu Xun, Liang Qichao, Qian, Wu, Chen Yuan, Hou Wailu, Bai Shouyi, Hu Xiansu, Wang Maoren, Zhou Tingru and other famous teachers once taught in Hong Wen. The school adheres to the fine tradition of "patriotism and progress, honesty and simplicity, being realistic and innovative, and being a teacher by example" and the school motto of "learning to be a teacher and be a teacher by example", and has formed the educational concept of "learning to be excellent and being an official".
