Construction history of hexagonal buildings
During the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty (1573- 16 19), Cui Xian donated money to build this octagonal building according to the drawings brought back by Taiping artist Bi Chang who participated in the construction of the Beijing Palace. 17 bluestone relief was created by artist Qingyang. Destroyed by fire, in the fourth year of Chongzhen in Ming Dynasty (163 1), Cui rebuilt it and changed it into a hexagonal building, commonly known as the "hexagonal building". In the eighth year of Jiaqing (1803) and Guangxu (1882), it was rebuilt every year in the early years of the Republic of China.
