During the Hongwu period, Ming Taizu founded Confucianism in Dongxiang.
Ming Xianzong Chenghua 1 1 year (that is, AD 1476), Dongxiang County ordered Wu Xin to move to Mingyueba in Jiangbei to study.
During the Wanli period of Ming Shenzong (1573 ~), Dongxiang County ordered Tao to change Confucianism into Dongcheng (now the former site of the Party School), and built Lailu Pavilion in front of Confucianism (named after it on the day it was built).
In the 29th year of Daoguang reign of Xuanzong in Qing Dynasty (namely 1849), Dongxiang County ordered Tao Hongyuan to change the study palace and build Lailu Pavilion, which was named Lailu Academy.
In the 4th year of the Republic of China (19 15), Dongxiang was renamed Xuanhan. The following year (AD 19 16), Jing Changyun, the governor of the county, converted the old house of Weilu College into a western-style building, and named it "Xuanhan County Middle School" as a classroom (then sharing a school with the county high school), and Jing Changyun also served as the principal. The courses offered are all Japanese-style, including Chinese, English, history, geography, arithmetic, geography (that is, physical and chemical plants and minerals), pictures, handicrafts and gymnastics.

In 2002, it was evaluated and accepted as "Sichuan Model Ordinary High School".
In 2003, it merged with the former Northwest Middle School and acquired 220 mu of land to build a new campus (namely, the West District).
In August 2005, the West Campus of Xuanhan Middle School was completed. In September, senior one and senior two moved into the new campus to formally attend classes.
In February, 2006, the school was rated as "National Model High School in Sichuan Province".
