When Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty returned to Beijing, he sent someone to look for Mei Fei and finally found her body in the well of Shangyangdong Palace. In order to keep his innocence, Mei Fei had the well wrapped in white silk.

Princess, Lord, Sun Ken, including Mei Fei, who was trapped in the cold palace, abandoned them. On this day, all the officials didn't know that the emperor had escaped. When Emperor Xuanzong returned to Beijing, he sent someone to find Mei Fei and wrote a letter. As long as someone finds her, she will be promoted to two levels and offered a reward of one million. One of the eunuchs presented a portrait of Mei Fei, and the emperor said, "It's very similar, but I hate it." Then he wrote a poem in memory of Mei Fei.
