The History and Culture of Beihai and Tuancheng
Beihai has experienced the construction of Liao, Jin, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, with a long history and more inheritance in reconstruction. It was built in Liao Dynasty, located in the northeast suburb of Nanjing, Liaoning Province, with beautiful scenery nearby, so the rulers dredged the water system and built Yaoyu Palace in imitation of Penglai Wonderland. In the 19th year of Jin Dading (1 179), this building was built on the basis of Yao Yu Palace.

Guanghan Temple also called the lake "West Flower Bed", Yaoyu changed its name to "Qionghua Island", and the whole detached palace was named "Daning Palace" (later renamed "Wanning Palace"). Qionghua Island was taken as the planning center in Yuan Dynasty, and Qionghua Island was expanded three times in the third year of Zhongyuan (1262), the fourth year of Zhiyuan (1267) and the eighth year of Zheng Zhi (1348), with the name of Wanshou Mountain (or Wanshou Mountain) and the name of the lake. At the same time, the Forbidden City was built on the east bank of Taiyechi, and Long Fu Palace and Shengxing Palace were built on the west bank, forming a huge palace-"Shangyuan".

In the 18th year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty (1420), after Beijing was the capital of the Ming Dynasty, the Forbidden City was built in the east of Taiye Pool, and the water system was expanded to the south, forming the Sea of China and the South China Sea, which together with the North Sea were called "Xiyuan" and included in the imperial city. In the seventh year of Wanli (1579), Guanghan Temple collapsed and has not been repaired. It was not until the eighth year of Shunzhi in Qing Dynasty (165 1) that the White Pagoda was built on the site of Guanghan Temple at the request of the Lama, and the palace in the south of the island was converted into Ai 'an Temple. From the sixth year of Qianlong (174 1), the expansion of Beihai began for 30 years. In addition to the pavilions around Qionghua Island, many buildings have been added to the north and east banks of Taiye Pool, forming today's pattern.

In the 11th year of Guangxu in the late Qing Dynasty (1885), Empress Dowager Cixi used naval military funds to build and repair the North Sea. 1900 When Eight-Nation Alliance captured Beijing, it caused great damage to the North Sea, and it was only two years later that it was rebuilt.

During the period of the Republic of China, Beihai first became the private property of Aisin Giorro Puyi according to the Regulations on Royal Preferences in Qing Dynasty, and then it was turned into a park from 65438 to 0925, but it was never opened to the public.

After the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), Zhongnanhai became the residence of the central government, and Beihai was opened as a park. 196 1 year, Beihai and Tuancheng were announced by the people of China and the State Council as the first batch of national key cultural relics protection units. 1969 to 1979, Beihai Park was closed on the grounds of "protecting the security of Zhongnanhai", and tourists were forbidden to enter. After 1979, Beihai Park was reopened to the public. 1996 is listed as a world cultural heritage protection area by UNESCO.
