The Historical Evolution of Nanshan Temple
1957, Nanxian Temple Daxiong Hall was listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Jiangsu Province.

1985 In April, Professor Chen Congzhou, a famous landscape architect, was invited to visit Thailand. After inspecting Nanshan Temple, he thought that Daxiong Hall was a roof building with double eaves, similar to the Taihe Hall in the Forbidden City in Beijing and the Dai Temple in Shandong. It is the highest-level roof style in the history of ancient architecture in China, and is usually used as the main building of the palace to show respect or solemnity. Among the temple buildings in Jiangsu, only the Confucian Temple in Suzhou and Nanshan Temple in Taizhou are ancient buildings of this form.

In June, 2003, Taizhou repaired Nanxian Temple Daxiong Hall, which was completed in August, 2004.

On the morning of 20091February 18, Luo, an ancient architect in China and deputy director of the National Committee of Experts for the Protection of Historic and Cultural Cities, visited Nanshan Temple.
