Historical evolution of Xinghua
According to legend, Xinghua belonged to Wu in the Spring and Autumn Period and Chu in the Warring States Period. It is the food city of General Chu Zhaoyang.

Zhaoyang was sealed as Yu Haibin (impromptu area) and was buried in Yangshan Mountain in the west of the city after his death.

Therefore, Xinghua is also called "Chushui" and "Zhaoyang".

Xinghua, formerly known as Zhaoyang, was originally a place where prisoners were exiled in the Song Dynasty.

Later, it was named Xinghua because Fan Zhongyan worked here, which means "Changxing Education".

Xinghua is an ancient city with a history of more than 2,000 years, located in the hinterland of Lixia in central Jiangsu.

Rivers, lakes and harbors criss-cross and are as dense as cobwebs.

Because it is surrounded by water, the traffic is inconvenient and it is located in a remote place. There is a saying that "Zhaoyang has been avoiding soldiers since ancient times".

According to Yu Fang Minutes, Xinghua County was originally a part of Hailing County.

During the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, in the second year of Wuyi (920), the northern part of Hailing County was designated as Zhaoyuanchang, and later changed to Xinghua County, which was the beginning of contemporary Xinghua county governance.

During the Southern Tang Dynasty, it belonged to Hailing (hereinafter referred to as Taizhou).

Xinghua moved from Taizhou to Yangzhou in Song Dynasty.

In the fourth year of Emperor Gaozong's Jianyan in the Southern Song Dynasty (A.D. 1 130), the postal army was upgraded to Chengzhou, governing the county (Xinghua); Shaoxing five years (1 135), reset county, transferred to Taizhou.

In the thirty-first year of Shaoxing (1 16 1), Gaoyou was founded, still in Xinghua, and later transferred to Taizhou.

Xiaozong cherished spring for four years (AD 1 177) and moved to Gaoyou.

In Yuan Dynasty (127 1- 1368), Xinghua belonged to Gaoyou House and Yangzhou Road.

In the Ming Dynasty (1368- 1644), Xinghua belonged to Gaoyou Prefecture and was assigned to Yangzhou Prefecture.

At the beginning of Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), Xinghua County, Gaoyou Prefecture and Yangzhou Prefecture were followed by Zhili Prefecture.

After the Revolution of 1911, Xinghua County was directly under Jiangsu Province.

1933, there is a special area under the province, and Xinghua County belongs to Yancheng District.

During the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression period (1940), Han Deqin, chairman of Jiangsu Province, led the army and government agencies to withdraw to Xinghua.

1939 When Li Shouwei, commander of the 89th Army of the Army, led his troops to invade Huangqiao, the army was stationed in xinghua city.

As early as 1938 to 1939, China established a secret organization in Xinghua to carry out revolutionary activities and develop revolutionary forces.
