What's the life of Wu Han the bookworm?
Wu Han, formerly known as Wu, whose real name is Wu Xuan, is a modern historian in China. He used to be Professor Tsinghua University and Vice Mayor of Beijing. His main works include Biography of Zhu Yuanzhang and Collection of Throwing Guns. His childhood family was poor, and he was one of the typical figures who made achievements through hard study in the old society.

Wu Han has been studying in Kuzhutang Primary School in his hometown since he was seven years old. He is very sensible and studies hard. Whether it's windy or rainy, or it's hot in winter and summer, he never misses class and never arrives late or leaves early.

Wu Han loved reading books when he was a child, especially history books and historical novels. In the fourth grade of primary school, he finished reading Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Water Margin, The Journey to the West and other works. After reading these books, he has no books to read, so he borrows books everywhere and often goes to places 100 kilometers away. Some people see that he is afraid of losing his book and refuses to lend it to him, but he keeps at other people's doors. When he borrowed a book, he read it while walking. By the time he got to his door, he had finished reading it, and then he returned it immediately. The borrower didn't believe that he could finish reading it so soon, so he asked him what was in the book and he could say it at once. The local people say that he reads quickly and efficiently, so they call him a "bookworm".

When Wu Han was in junior high school, the school was nearly 50 kilometers away from home. He usually lives on campus and carries his luggage home during the holidays. He didn't even have the fare to go home. Going home on holiday, he sold all his luggage in order to buy a book he liked very much. When he got home, his father was very angry and beat him black and blue. Later, he went to college and lived there for three years. Diligence and hardship have always accompanied him. He studies hard and does almost nothing but read books and copy cards. His research work basically depends on his own personal exploration. He said, "At that time, I found my own books to read. I read a lot of good books and a lot of bad books without guidance. I have no books of my own, so I have to copy them. I also try my best to borrow books from others, and some books are still refused to borrow after being asked. If you don't understand anything in the book, you have to explore it yourself, correct it with this book, and cross-examine it with that book ... all of them are self-study, collating, studying history, learning dialects, trying punctuation, writing cards, and doing everything by themselves. " Therefore, when Wu Han was a student, he had profound attainments in ancient Chinese. He reads widely and thinks a lot. He believes that reading should be diligent and copy down wonderful or important paragraphs in the book. If you copy a lot of materials, you always have to read them several times and sort them out carefully, so that you can draw opinions and conclusions and easily find your own problems. Knowledge is a process of gradual accumulation, from scratch, from less to more, from one-sided to comprehensive.

Because he was studious and fond of books, he wrote many insightful papers on the history of the Ming Dynasty and became a famous historian. People also nicknamed him "Tai Shigong".
