Iger and de Silva are still apprentices. The former thought that the overall design of the first generation Q7 was too round and lacked the aggressiveness needed by the new era, so it made drastic changes when designing the new Q7. As the design director of the first generation Q7, De Silva is very dissatisfied with this.
It was not until 20 13 that most of the second generation Q7 was completed, and Iger left Audi and went to BYD. With the release of the new car just around the corner, De Silva could only make some modifications on the basis of the existing works, and finally compromised on the design.

Today, five years later, we finally see the brand-new Audi Q7, which has been redesigned. The official photos look a bit like Q8, but both of them are trying to find the flavor of pikes peak in those days.
In fact, judging from the first appearance of Audi Q8 in 20 17 and the cycle of automobile development, this brand-new design language, which is now widely used in Audi SUVs, should have been changed after Mark Lechter became the design director of Audi in 20 14, and was launched on Audi Q8, and then applied to new Audi Q3 and new Audi Q7 one after another.
