Historical Inheritance of Nanyue Temple
Temples are the carrier of ancient sacrifices, which will inevitably attract the attention of the emperor. In addition to regular sacrifices, there have always been ceremonies for the throne, birthdays, disasters, or national prosperity, war victory, floods and droughts. This kind of sacrifice, the emperor should personally ask, written by the Hanlin Academy, sent court officials to Nanyue to make a special trip to sacrifice. The God worshipped by Nanyue State is "the Holy Emperor of Nanyue State", and its name is Zhu Rong, its name is Zeguang, and so on. In a word, the "Holy Emperor of Nanyue" is the biggest bodhisattva in Nanyue. It is tall, majestic, sacred and solemn. It represents God observing, thinking and hinting. It has great wisdom, broad mind and broad vision that ordinary people can't reach. Everything in the world is clear, thinking about the ages and predicting the future. Therefore, both dignitaries, ordinary people and even the emperor are in awe of him. This specific "demand background" determines the future of Nanyue Temple, which must be relatively stable and sustainable.

In history, Nanyue Temple was destroyed by fire many times, rebuilt, repaired and expanded many times. It can be said that the temple history of Nanyue Temple is not only a history of offering sacrifices, but also a history of fighting against natural and man-made disasters. It serves as a link between the past and the future, and frequently shines with the highlights of the Chinese national spirit. In addition to those folk craftsmen, there are officials, squires, businessmen, soldiers and even men and women who have contributed to the construction, restoration and management of Nanyue Temple in history, both ordinary people and great men like Li Hongzhang, Zeng Guofan, Xue Yue, Tao Zhu and Chen Yi. They used their faith and wisdom, financial and material resources to maintain the majestic momentum and incense of this ancient temple. Among all the pious defenders, one person is worth mentioning, and he is Li from Pingjiang County, Hunan Province. Li, born in the Qing Dynasty, was named Tian Yueshan Qiao, and in his later years he became a detached old man. He is an official in Yunnan. 1879, Hunan Governor Wang hired Li to preside over the reconstruction of Nanyue Temple, which lasted for three years. The main hall of the Great Temple destroyed by the fire was rebuilt, and the memorial hall, imperial pavilion, imperial book hall, Zhu Shengtang and Shenci Temple were built and rebuilt, making Nanyue Temple quite large and has been passed down to this day. Taking the opportunity of repairing the temple as an opportunity, Li traveled all over the landscape of Nanyue, and independently compiled 26 volumes of Annals of Nanyue with more than 400,000 words, including The Remembering of the Temple, which provided a "cultural key" for people to fully understand the temple of Nanyue.

Although Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism have different beliefs and different pursuits, they have long been friendly, developing together and sharing prosperity. Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism coexist in one temple, which is unique in temples in China and even in the world.
