[Introduction to World History] (3) The Origin of Agriculture
The last ice age was 6.5438 million years ago. The world population was only a few million, and the food depended on wild animals. Humans are divided into small groups for seasonal migration.

It was not until the Neolithic Age in 8000 BC that human groups settled down. Primitive agriculture was born. From the beginning, the earliest farming record was in Southwest Asia. It is found in the ruins of the Levant that the wild crops changed by human intervention are mainly cereals and beans, including peas, broad beans and other leguminous plants. There are wheat, barley, lentils, peas and chickpeas in southwest Asia. There are rice, soybeans and mung beans in South Asia and East Asia. There are sorghum, millet and beans in Africa. America and Mexico have corn. Tubers include potatoes from the Andes, as well as cassava, taro and sweet potato, all of which are native to tropical regions.

Grain and tuber crops spread to other continents except Australia.

However, only in a few areas, mainly in West Asia, sheep, goats, pigs, cows, donkeys, horses and camels were domesticated earlier.

Wild boar and cattle breeds, chickens are domesticated in East and South Asia. Turkey has been domesticated in America, and there are llamas, alpacas and guinea pigs in South America.

When the village is repaired, irrigation and terraced fields will have to be expanded. We also grow some fruits, such as dates, figs, grapes and olives.

About 6000 years ago, agriculture had spread to Europe, North Africa, Central Asia and South Asia from east to west, and new varieties were cultivated. In China, the origin of agriculture was between 7000 BC and 6000 BC.

Agriculture in America began in 3000 BC. Tropical Africa in 2000 BC.

It can be seen that the origin of agriculture is also slowly spreading around. The production characteristics of agriculture harvest the fruits of crops and provide food for people. It lays the foundation for people to exist in one place for a long time. It has also created conditions for the further civilization of mankind and laid the foundation for the rapid development of human population.

The beginning of agriculture is the change from hunting to farming, which is the progress of mankind. The fixation of human settlement environment has laid the foundation for the representative city of human civilization.
